A client site going down, a bad deployment, or an unverified backup are the kinds of problems that shouldn’t happen quietly — someone needs to own uptime, deployments, and data protection as a full-time responsibility, not an afterthought. This role exists to be that owner: managing the ongoing health, deployment lifecycle, and uptime of client websites, with strong hands-on expertise across WordPress and e-commerce platforms.

You’ll work closely with Developers, Project Managers, and Technical Leads to prevent downtime, catch issues before clients notice them, and make sure every release goes live cleanly.

This role is for someone who enjoys:

  • Owning production environments independently, with confidence and discipline
  • Catching problems before they become client-facing incidents
  • Treating backups, deployments, and documentation as non-negotiable habits, not chores
  • Troubleshooting under pressure without losing composure

If you’re someone who takes real pride in a clean deployment and a site that never goes down on your watch, this role will give you full ownership of that outcome.Every client account needs someone who can own the SEO work directly — audits, strategy, content planning, and reporting — without needing to be walked through the fundamentals. The SEO Strategist is that person: an experienced individual contributor who manages their own portfolio of client accounts end-to-end, working closely with the SEO Strategy Lead on strategy and complex technical issues, while taking full responsibility for day-to-day execution and results.

What you’ll really be doing

1. Backups & Data Protection

  • Take and verify scheduled and pre-deployment backups of client websites and databases
  • Ensure backups are restorable, not just taken — run periodic restore tests
  • Maintain a backup log with timestamps, scope, and verification status

2. Website Deployment & Go-Live Management

  • Manage staging-to-production migrations and website go-live processes
  • Handle DNS/domain cutovers, SSL setup, and post-launch verification
  • Coordinate release timing with Developers and PMs to avoid deployment conflicts

3. Server Monitoring & Maintenance

  • Proactively monitor client servers — uptime, disk space, resource usage, and security patches
  • Manage hosting environments (cPanel, Plesk, AWS, or similar), including access control and configuration
  • Set up and maintain monitoring/alerting tools for server and website uptime

4. WordPress & eCommerce Platform Support

  • Maintain WordPress websites: plugin/theme updates, performance optimization, security hardening, malware cleanup
  • Support e-commerce platforms (WooCommerce, Shopify, Magento) — product/catalog issues, payment gateway and plugin conflicts, performance tuning

5. Documentation & Incident Tracking

  • Maintain server details, access credentials (via a secure password manager), and deployment steps for each client site
  • Maintain an incident log for outages/issues and track resolution time

Who will thrive in this role

  • You treat backups and documentation as core to the job, not paperwork to skip
  • You catch and fix issues before clients notice them, not after they complain
  • You’re confident managing production environments independently, without hand-holding
  • You stay calm and methodical when something breaks in production
  • You communicate clearly with Developers and PMs to coordinate releases without conflict

Qualifications & Skills

Experience

  • Experience with at least one e-commerce platform: WooCommerce, Shopify, or Magento

  • Experience with backup tools/plugins (UpdraftPlus, BlogVault, or server-level backup solutions)
  • Familiarity with DNS management, SSL certificates, and domain migrations
  • Understanding of FTP/SFTP, Git basics, and staging environments
  • Basic knowledge of server security (firewalls, malware scanning, brute-force protection)

Tools & Platforms

  • cPanel, Plesk, AWS (or similar hosting environments)
  • WordPress, WooCommerce, Shopify, Magento

  • Exposure to other CMS/e-commerce platforms (Shopify Plus, BigCommerce, Laravel-based apps)
  • Basic PHP/MySQL troubleshooting ability
  • Experience working in a digital agency or white-label delivery model

What this role offers

  • Full ownership of uptime, deployments, and data protection across client sites
  • Direct, hands-on work across WordPress and multiple e-commerce platforms
